While the traditional weapon of the Jedi is the lightsaber, there have been traditions based around unorthodox interpretations of such a signature weapon. Among cultures that emphasized hunting or group-combat, the lightspear or saberspear was the preferred tool. A particular example of this style was that of the Barabel Jedi, who used spears more often than swords in melee combat.
