It’s storming outside. Indy wants to be let outside to bark at the rain.
You’d think he’d go out there to pee, but no, it’s just to bark for a minute and then come back inside. So, he’s not going out there until he needs to pee.

Parade day! In Baton Rouge to celebrate a holiday the only way folks in Louisiana know how: floats, crowds, and beads thrown as hard as possible at heads.

This kid. Man, but he loves anything mechanical. It took a while before he finally got distracted enough to leave the boat exhibit.

Hannah wanted to climb the book tower. She needed Dad to climb up with her. I almost got a good photo of her standing on the lower level, but she moved. Now we have a photo of my feet and I’m going to claim I did it for artistic purposes.
I did have a plan. I was going to write after work and when everyone else was abed. I had notes from the day-job that I really wanted to explore and implement. Unfortunately, I was distracted by a project I had previously obsessed over and my nighttime writing window is closing. I need to get to bed.
As contrition, take a look at some of the cats on my route! They like talking to the mailman.

Enjoy!

I’ve accepted that any animal living with me will be a weirdo, but Korra has a particular oddness. She hates getting pets unless it’s done by a foot. At this point, I just roll with it.

Behold! A salmon dish cooked by yours truly, and it isn’t a worthless dish!
I cannot stress enough how terrible I’ve been with learning fish recipes. It’s something I’ve always wanted to master, but I’ve never managed to actually make a dish that was decent and presentable. Until now!
And just in time for Lent! Now I have something I can cook on Fridays!
It was an easy day for the Swift Ranch. It’s nice to know that the universe sometimes aligns and lets us have a day to relax, even if just a little.
I have been taking my own advice and making Sunday my (mostly) day off from writing, if just to not stress myself out too much over making my daily word count or getting a project rolling. Chores still have to be done, but that’s a given and they’re easy to handle. The family saw to the needs of the household, and we even managed to get a round of groceries taken care of. Now that it’s evening, I’m taking a few moments to get my thoughts together and put notes down on what I’ve thought about over the day.
I have decided that I would be writing an essay of thoughts about the Russian invasion. As much as I avoid politics, here and everywhere else, that isn’t something I can ignore. If I’m lucky, I’ll have it written by the end of tonight and it’ll be up in the morning.
I also decided that I would, in fact, review the Star Wars Expanded Universe stories! Those reviews will take time to go through, since I have to either find my copy or buy one, read it to refresh my memory, then write up my opinions. But they’ll be put up here when I can.
With that, I have an evening or writing and meal preps to do, so here’s a picture of Apollo being strangely affectionate for all that he is still a feral cat who decided to adopt me.

He does like to cuddle, but he tells me by biting my wrist until I pet him. Progress is progress, at least.

Old Man Indy has always napped like this.
Words cannot express how envious I am of his napping ability.

I forgot that it was President’s Day here in the US, so I had an extra day off!
I decided that it was going to be an easy day. Light chores and video games, which is a very rare treat. As a result, I didn’t get much writing done during the day. I’ll put in some work this evening.
In the meantime, Apollo is transitioning from feral to inside cat quite well. We actually couldn’t find him for a couple hours, leading me to think he left when I opened the door. I found him asleep at my desk chair.
