New Chapter Posted!

Only a week late! Progress!

It’s irritating on a personal level that I had not done this earlier in the week, but I kept running into a problem when I would sit down at my desk after work: I like sleep.

But I’ve been whittling away at the writing, and I’ve managed to make it presentable.

01/18 Solo Session, plus a new Side-Arc!

Why yes, I do tend to pile writings on my shoulders with reckless abandon. Why do you ask?

I have to admit that sometimes it feels like I have too many different storylines going on, but that’s why I keep the timeline updated on my computer, with plans to add on to the website when they become necessary for readers.

Today’s Solo Session is one of those, actually. I’m hoping that with this session, I can begin on a few short stories. What they’ll entail, I don’t want to go into, just yet. Spoilers and all.

Along with that, I’ve stumbled onto another small project that I’d like to add to my campaigns, and honestly should’ve been invested in a long time ago: a Mandalorian Armor short series. A player said he wanted to be one, and while I have no problem with them taking on such a role, I’m finding myself hard-pressed with letting a new character just have a set of armor made with beskar. That should be earned, in my opinion.

Thus, I’m making notes for a selection of Mandalorian Armors beyond just the “Heavy” and “Scouting” armors I could find in my research, and working up a story for the player to earn their nigh-invincible armor. If I do it right, we’ll have one hell of a story.

But for now, we’re off to see how the Solo Session goes. Stay safe out there, readers!

01/17 GameMaster Essay Written!

It’s about time I started taking a look at those essays I’ve said I’d write up. I have to admit that seeing those links on the homepage and knowing they don’t go anywhere has annoyed me, and I apologize for taking so long to getting to them.

But I’m taking small amounts of time and dedicating it to writing out my thoughts. They’re not going to be the perfect writings I’ve wanted, but they’ll be a good start.

For now, I have a brief on my “What Is Canon?” essay, and it’s here for your perusal.

It’ll be a long day of slinging letters, but I have my list of writings now! I’ll get the list finished as soon as possible.

01/16 Sidewinder Story Update!

Well, the plan had been to set this all up for publishing on Sunday, but after a full day of carpenter-work and fixing the dog yard, I managed to get everything done here and fall asleep at my desk before finalizing and posting.

So, you know, business as usual.

But it’s written and published! The first part, at least. I’ll be whittling away at the story throughout the week and, hopefully, the next part will be ready for next Sunday!

Or Monday morning, because we know who I am.

It’s been posted into the Pages, but for those who want to go ahead and read (I can feel my players glaring at me), here’s the link:

01/11 Frustrations of Daily Writing and Planning Ahead

It’s a poignant irony that I have multiple draft posts waiting for me to go over and yet, I keep letting them sit there. It’s a personal conflict between wanting to write and wanting to be a perfectionist.

Or it might be imposter syndrome just getting the better of me. I’ll have to ask my psychology buddy about that.

You will have noticed, however, that I did not post much in the past week. I apologize for that, especially to my kids for their lack of “daily weather” photos. The Heavy Season threw me completely off my routine and even with medication to help me pay attention, it shows that I’ve been slacking.

But hopefully, at the start of next week I will have my routine back on schedule for writing and posting. I’m also giving serious thought to scheduling a few days off from career work and house-spouse work so I can have a mini writing retreat; in reality, I’d just stay at my desk but I’d also turn off my usual distractions. Looking at you, Stellaris.

At least my game sessions are starting back up. I’ve missed those during the past month, and it showed during the first Main Arc session.

I front-loaded the session so much that the players didn’t actually get to do much, which is both a great feeling and personally disappointing. But they needed to know so much!

Tonight is my first Solo-Arc session for the year, and I’m looking forward to having that sit-down with our most recent new player Jeremy.

Back to slinging mail. Stay safe out there, readers!

1/4 Preparing for New Pages, plus a New Event!

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: when a player has a good idea, I have to give it my full attention and add it to my campaigns.

I’ve set up a new feature to the Session Schedule: “Player Talks!”, which is when I have a one-on-one talk with my players over new ideas or concepts. Considering the player I’ve scheduled for today, I’m expecting a list of good ideas and adding on to my work pile.

Which is how it should be! This is what I get for having smart people join my campaigns.

Note: after the talk, I’ve added a new prestige class and page to add on to the web site. This furthers my point of having good players. When they have an idea, I have to stop and listen to them.

I’m off to set up a new prestige class. Stay safe out there, readers!

01/03 Sessions Starting Soon!

Ack! I have a Main Campaign session in three days!

I’ve also been obsessive about giving my players a good story, so I’ve been working on this session for over a month now. But still, I worry that I won’t be able to give them the kind of game that they deserve.

When you have good players, you want to make it worth their time. But I’ll keep reminding myself that I’ve written down my challenges and descriptions correctly.

On top of that, my Solo and Small-Party sessions are starting soon, as well! It’s time to check in with my various players and see when they’ll be wanting to add their own perspectives to the Star Wars universe.

Don’t forget, readers, that I do accept new players! If you want to join up, just let me know!

01/01/23 New Year, Next Page

As the title suggests, I’m contemplating the next page of the stories. There’s so much to look forward to, and I’m all but despairing that I won’t be able to go into all the details that I want to!

With that, I’m aspiring to hold myself to a (sort of) resolution: getting back to my daily writing goals. I’ll have to split this goal into different areas, of course. The main priority will be getting my story writings up to date, but I also have my homebrews (when the players offer good ideas, I have to write about it) and continuing the campaigns’ Wiki-styled pages.

But I will be writing, every day, once again.

I also have a campaign to write for. Dammit…

Stay safe out there, readers! I have sessions to plan for!
